Photo Etched

Photo Etched

The process is transferring the design from a photographic negative onto the metal surface by sensitization process. The design is etched into the brass or copper using an acid etching process. Then all of the acids and other impurities are carefully cleaned from the surface. The indentations created by the acid etching process are then filled with the enamel colors. This process requires a surrounding metal edge to ensure painting results, so it is usually to reserve a metal edge of minimum 0.8mm.
